Day one of the World Boxing Cup – Felix Stamm in Warsaw saw impressive performances from Asian nations, with boxers from Uzbekistan and Mongolia securing key victories across multiple weight classes.
Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov dominated in the +90kg division, stopping Poland’s Oskar Kopera by RSC in the second round. Mongolia also had a notable start, with Misheelt Battumur edging out compatriot Bat-Ulzii Erdenetsogt in a closely contested 65kg bout, winning by a 3:2 split decision.
By the end of the opening day, both Uzbekistan and Mongolia had recorded three wins each, placing them among the top-performing countries alongside host nation Poland and England.
The tournament runs from May 12 to 16 at Arena COS Torwar in Warsaw, with Asian boxers continuing to prove themselves on the global stage.
