The 3rd Asian Youth Games, set for October 22–31, 2025 in Bahrain, is gearing up to welcome over 5,400 athletes from 45 Asian National Olympic Committees competing across 24 sports, 31 disciplines, and 253 events.
Among the key attendees at the Chefs de Mission Seminar, held at The Art Hotel & Resort on Amwaj Island, was Asian Boxing’s Competitions Manager Bassam Ghanem, who worked closely with the Boxing Technical Committee throughout the sessions. Ghanem’s presence marked the active role Asian Boxing is taking in ensuring high-level technical preparations for the sport during these Games.
The seminar, which followed the first Technical Delegates Meeting, covered all major operational aspects of the Games – from NOC services to athlete accommodations, transportation, and venue readiness. Site inspections took place on May 16.
Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and OCA Executive Board Member, Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, opened the seminar by reaffirming Bahrain’s commitment to delivering a platform that will spotlight future Olympians: “The champions in Bahrain could well be turning out for their countries at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. They could be future Olympic champions and we are honoured to be able to host these games.”
The Games are also being positioned as a stepping stone toward the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, with the age range set between 14–17 years.
OCA Deputy Director General Vinod Kumar Tiwari highlighted the educational mission of the AYG, stressing the importance of anti-doping, safeguarding, and holistic athlete development.
NOC officials from across Asia, including presidents and secretary generals from Mongolia, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Iraq, Maldives, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Laos, were present—underlining the continental scale and importance of the event.
