From India to Japan, Asian Fighters Shine Bright in Astana

The third day of the World Boxing Cup in Astana delivered electric matchups across four packed sessions, showcasing some of the most talented boxers from Asia and beyond. With athletes from countries such as India, Kazakhstan, Japan, Uzbekistan, Korea, Mongolia, and more, Asian boxers once again asserted their strength across men’s and women’s divisions, earning standout victories and unanimous decisions.

Minakshi (IND), Nazym Kyzaibay (KAZ), Anamika (IND), Neeraj Phogat (IND), Sanju (IND), Aida Abikeyeva (KAZ), and Navbakhor Khamidova (UZB) all emerged victorious in their bouts, continuing a powerful run for South and Central Asia.

Yuna Nishinaka (JPN), Hikaru Shinohara (JPN), and Balsan Mungunsaran (MGL) added to East Asia’s medal prospects with commanding wins.

Busenaz Surmeneli (TUR) and Gayeon Mun (KOR) represented West and East Asia with hard-fought performances, while Gizemp Ozer (TUR) and Chen Nien-Chin (TPE) faced narrow decisions.

Pooja Rani (IND) won her women’s 80kg bout against Kazakhstan’s Yerzhan, in one of the day’s tightest contests (4:1).

In the Men’s 50kg, Sanzhar Tashkenbay (KAZ) and Jay Bryan Baricuatro (PHI) emerged victorious in their technical bouts, joined by Izaz Omer (AUS).

Bekzad Nurdauletov (KAZ) and Sagyndyk Togambay (KAZ) delivered clinical performances in the 85kg and 90kg weight classes, cementing Kazakhstan’s dominance.

Abhinash Jamwal (IND) and Malik Mamedov (AZE) advanced through tactical matches in the 65kg division, with Jamwal defeating Azerbaijan’s Hasanov 4:1.

Yertugan Zeinullinov (KAZ) also secured a 5:0 unanimous victory in the men’s 65kg over Turkey’s Ahmet Pekel.

Close matches saw LIVAZA Omar (KGZ) edge past Shion Nishiyama (JPN), and Patris Mughalzai (ENG) narrowly defeat Fernando Piter Ynoa (DOM).

With knockout rounds approaching, Asian boxers have positioned themselves strongly in nearly every category. As the tournament progresses, eyes will remain on these emerging talents and Olympic hopefuls preparing to leave their mark on the global stage.
