Asian boxing has left its mark on Liverpool. At the conclusion of the 2025 World Boxing Championships, the continent’s fighters secured a commanding 39 medals across nine nations, a tally that confirms Asia as the powerhouse of Olympic boxing.
Kazakhstan Leads the Way
Kazakhstan topped the medal table for Asia with a brilliant 7 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze, the highest gold count of any nation in Liverpool. Champions included Sanzhar Tashkenbay (M50kg), Makhmud Sabyrkhan (M55kg), Alua Balkibekova (W51kg), Aida Abikeyeva (W65kg), Natalya Bogdanova (W70kg), Torekhan Sabyrkhan (M70kg), and Aibek Oralbay (M+90kg). Their dominance across both men’s and women’s divisions underlined Kazakhstan’s depth of talent.
Uzbekistan’s Golden Generation
