Asia’s top talents continued their dominant run at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, with several boxers securing their places in the finals after strong performances in today’s semifinal session.
Women’s 48kg: Two-time World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay of Kazakhstan outpointed Uzbekistan’s Sabina Bobokulova in a close 4:1 decision to book her spot in the final. On the other side of the bracket, India’s Minakshi delivered a flawless display, defeating Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg with a unanimous 5:0 win. Asia is now guaranteed the gold medal in the women’s light flyweight division, with Kyzaibay and Minakshi set for an all-Asian final.
Women’s 54kg: Huang Hsiao-Wen of Chinese Taipei showed her class, dominating Korea’s Im Aeji to claim a decisive 5:0 victory and move into the final.
Men’s 50kg: Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar Tashkenbay battled hard but fell short in a 4:1 decision against Cuba’s Alejandro Claro, ending his medal hopes at the semifinal stage. In the other bout, Japan’s Soushi Makino was edged by Mongolia’s Aldarkhishig Battulga in a split 3:2 decision, ensuring Mongolia’s first finalist in this weight class.
Men’s 55kg: China’s Liu Chuang faced Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan in an all-Asian semifinal, with Liu prevailing by a dominant 5:0 score to secure a final berth.
Men’s 65kg: Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev advanced by walkover, moving straight into the final after Georgia’s Lasha Guruli was unable to compete.
Men’s 80kg: Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Ummataliev produced a commanding performance to defeat Croatia’s Gabrijel Veocic 5:0 and secure his place in the final.
These results underline Asia’s strength on the world stage, with multiple guaranteed medals and several boxers one step away from gold.
