Asian Boxers Shine on Day 2 of the Elite World Boxing Championships in Liverpool

Asian boxers delivered another day of strong performances at the Elite World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, with athletes from Uzbekistan, India, China, Korea, Kazakhstan, Taiwan (TPE), Mongolia, Jordan, and Iran advancing confidently through their respective weight categories. Across two sessions at the M&S Bank Arena, Asian nations secured 17 victories, underlining the continent’s depth and talent on the world stage.

Standout Performances

India impressed with four wins. Sumit (75kg) and Narender (+90kg) earned dominant points victories, Jaismine (57kg) swept to a 5:0 win, while Neeraj Phogat edged a close 3:2 contest at 65kg.

Uzbekistan celebrated three victories, highlighted by Shodiyorjon Melikuziev’s stunning KO in Round 2 (0:20) at 50kg. Jakhongir Zokirov (+90kg) and Khumorabonu Mamajonova (57kg) also advanced in commanding style.

China began the day with Cai Yan’s clear 5:0 triumph at 57kg, while Danabieke Bayikewuzi showed resilience to prevail 3:2 in the +90kg category.

Korea secured two wins, with Kang Sukyoung (65kg) taking a split decision and Yoon Taegeun (50kg) cruising to a unanimous 5:0.

Kazakhstan’s Aida Abikeyeva (65kg) and Karina Ibragimova (57kg) were both in outstanding form, each posting decisive victories.

Mongolia’s Enkhjargal Munguntsetseg (57kg) and Taiwan’s Wu Shih-Yi (57kg) also delivered confident performances, while Jordan’s Huthaifa Eshish (50kg) and Iran’s Amir Esmaeili Vandaei (+90kg) advanced on tight 3:2 decisions.
