The countdown is on for the 2025 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), officially titled SEAGAMES Thailand 2025, which will take place from 9 to 20 December 2025. Known as the 33rd edition of the Games, this multi-sport international event is sanctioned by the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) and will be staged across Bangkok and its metropolitan area, Chonburi Province, and Songkhla Province, with other Thai cities also hosting select competitions, particularly football.
Among the many sports on display, boxing will once again take center stage, carrying with it a tradition that stretches back to the very first SEA Games. Recognized as one of the oldest sports in the world, boxing has evolved from raw combat into a regulated discipline with strict rules, weight categories, and a global following. In Southeast Asia, amateur boxing continues to inspire young athletes, with many boxers first finding fame at the SEA Games before rising to international and even Olympic glory.

This year’s boxing competitions will be staged at the Thailand International Boxing Training Center, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Bangkok. The events will be held under the supervision of Asian Boxing, the governing body overseeing Olympic style boxing competitions across the continent, ensuring all bouts follow international standards.
Competition will run throughout the Games, with December 18 set aside as a rest day for boxers.

The Bangkok edition promises to deliver another wave of fierce rivalries, breakout talents, and moments that will echo beyond the Games.
As December approaches, excitement is building across the region. The 2025 SEA Games will not only showcase the sporting spirit of Southeast Asia but also underline boxing’s enduring role as a cornerstone of the event.
