The second day of boxing competition at the 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025 witnessed another thrilling display of skill and spirit, as young athletes from across Asia battled for advancement in the preliminary rounds. Bouts were held in the girls’ 46kg, 50kg, 54kg and boys’ 46kg and +80kg divisions, with 18 contests completed under the supervision of Asian Boxing and World Boxing, sanctioned by the Olympic Council of Asia.
Girls’ 46kg
India’s Khushi Chand opened the day’s proceedings with a dominant 5–0 win over Reem Al-Ramahi of Jordan.
China’s Luo Jinxiu followed with an equally convincing 5–0 victory against Thailand’s Warisara Tenglong, while Kazakhstan’s Shugyla Zharas overcame Tajikistan’s Firuza Fozilova by unanimous points.
Chinese Taipei’s Chen Fang-yu defeated Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Hong Yen (5–0), and the Philippines’ Shairylle Pores edged Uzbekistan’s Rukhshonabonu Ahadova in a close split decision (3–2).
Girls’ 54kg
Taipei’s Wu Chieh-ju outpointed Julia Sheikh of Jordan (5–0), while Japan’s Yui Hatakeyama delivered a sharp technical performance to defeat Kyrgyzstan’s Shirin Tursalieva (5–0).
India’s Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari advanced by referee stoppage in round two against Jiyou Choi of Korea (RSC R2 1:05). Kazakhstan’s Ramina Makhanova recorded a 5–0 win over Rim Hyang of DPR Korea, and China’s Wang Yaorunyu outclassed Iran’s Nazanin Fatemeh Davoudi Bejandi (5–0).
Boys’ +80kg
China’s Ma Duoli defeated Nguyen Trong Tien of Vietnam (5–0), maintaining full control throughout the bout.
In the following contest, Kyrgyzstan’s Abdumalik Lerov stopped Lebanon’s Rani Charanek in round one (RSC R1 0:14).
The final bout of the session saw Zayed Al-Shebli of the United Arab Emirates display strong determination before the referee stopped the contest in round three (RSC R3 0:36) in favor of Zuber Othman of Iraq.
Girls’ 50kg
The evening session featured fierce exchanges in the 50 kg division. Nazokat Mardonova of Uzbekistan defeated Japan’s Runa Ito on points (5–0).
India’s Ahaana Sharma advanced after a referee stoppage in round two against Kyrgyzstan’s Akmaral Amantaieva (RSC R2 1:08).
In one of the most emotional moments of the tournament, Bhutan’s Sangay Peldon made history by becoming the nation’s first youth girl to win an international boxing bout, edging Saudi Arabia’s Jana Muhanna by split decision (3–2).
Vietnam’s Dinh Thi Ru Na scored a 5–0 victory over Afghanistan’s Sokaina Haidari, while China’s Cui Xinying defeated Ermalie Caballero of the Philippines (3–2).
Korea’s Ma Jong Hyang advanced after a second-round stoppage (RSC R2 0:33) over Heo Jeongyoon, and Jordan’s Tala Hussein dominated Kuo Chih-yen of Chinese Taipei (5–0).
Boys’ 46kg
Sri Lanka’s Binul Dulnada Dewasiri Narayana outpointed Hsu Chung-wei of Chinese Taipei (5–0), while Salte Al Hadidi of Jordan wasn’t able to secure a victory over Leo Mhar Lobrido of the Philippines.
Abdyrahym Ovezgulyyev of Turkmenistan won his bout against Yemen’s Hussein Al-Suraihi (5–0), followed by Abdugani Yorkinjonov of Uzbekistan claiming a stoppage win over Korea’s Lee Changwook in the third round (RSC R3 0:21).
Damir Nazarov of Tajikistan overcame Ali Eissa Yousif of the UAE (RSC R3 0:41), while Arman Myrsabit of Kazakhstan stopped China’s Zhang Zhekai in the second round (RSC R2 0:35).
India’s Dhruv Kharb concluded the evening with a composed 4–1 win over Kyrgyzstan’s Alinur Bakytbekov.
The boxing competition at the 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025 features 182 boxers from 31 National Olympic Committees, with 118 boys and 64 girls. All bouts are held under the supervision of the Olympic Council of Asia, World Boxing, and Asian Boxing.
