Asian nations delivered another powerful evening performance as the World Boxing Cup Finals continued in Greater Noida. Boxers from India, Uzbekistan and Japan secured key victories that move them into the next stage, with a full day of semifinals scheduled for tomorrow.
India opened the session with a major win. Preeti defeated top seeded Huang Hsiao Wen of Chinese Taipei with a four to zero points decision in the women’s fifty four kilogram category. Her controlled performance against an internationally experienced opponent energised the home crowd and set the tone for the night.
Japan added to Asia’s success when Shion Nishiyama claimed a three to two victory over Uzbekistan’s Mukhiddinov Adkhamjon in the men’s sixty five kilogram division. India immediately followed with another decisive result as Abhinash Jamwal swept all five judges against Ukraine’s Elvin Aliiev to advance with confidence.
Uzbekistan remained dominant in the heavier categories. Nusratbek Tokhirov earned a clear four to one win over Poland’s Adam Jakub Tutak in the men’s ninety kilogram division. In the super heavyweight category, Khalimjon Mamasoliev delivered one of the most commanding results of the session with a five to zero victory over Korea’s Ju Taeung.
The evening concluded with a strong performance from India’s Narender, who secured a four to one win against Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Saparbay in the men’s ninety plus kilogram division. His result added to India’s growing list of advancing boxers and closed a competitive session for the host nation.
While some Asian athletes faced tight challenges against European opponents, the region’s overall strength remains clear. Asia enters tomorrow’s semifinals with depth, momentum and a large group of boxers still in contention.
