India Welcomes the World as Asia Dominates the Rankings Ahead of the World Boxing Cup Finals

Published on: November 2, 2025

The countdown has begun for the World Boxing Cup Finals, which will take place in Greater Noida, India, from 16 to 20 November 2025. The event will bring together 130 elite boxers from 18 nations across four continents to compete for the season’s ultimate titles. Nearly half of those nations, 44 percent, represent Asia, confirming it as the most dominant continent in world boxing today.

Representing the region are Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Korea, and Uzbekistan, nations that continue to define the global standard of Olympic-style boxing. According to the latest World Boxing Rankings, Asian boxers hold 14 of the 20 world number one positions and appear in well over 40 percent of all top-three rankings across the men’s and women’s elite weight categories.

As the Finals return to Asia, there is no host more fitting than India, a country with a proud boxing tradition and a wave of rising talent. At the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, India’s elite women produced two world champions, reinforcing their nation’s global presence. Only a week ago at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, India’s young women once again excelled, claiming four gold medals and leading their country to finish as the second-highest ranked team overall, an achievement that reflects India’s exceptional development program.

Hosting the World Boxing Cup Finals in India is a celebration of both the nation’s progress and the broader strength of Asian boxing within the World Boxing family.

President Pichai Chunhavajira says, “Asia’s presence at the top of world boxing is no coincidence. It is the result of years of investment, development, and belief in our athletes. To see nearly half of the world’s best boxers come from our continent is a great source of pride. Having the Finals in India, a country with extraordinary boxing talent and tradition, is the perfect way to close an outstanding year for our continent within the World Boxing movement.”

For Asian Boxing, this is not only a moment of pride but also a reflection of the continent’s growing influence and unity under the principles of integrity, fairness, and opportunity that World Boxing stands for.
