New Board Announced for World Boxing with Asia holding four seats

World Boxing has confirmed its new Board following elections held at the 2025 Congress in Rome. The newly elected leadership reflects a strong global balance and a significant rise in Asian representation during this new chapter for the organisation.

Gennadiy Golovkin has been confirmed as President of World Boxing. His appointment marks an important moment for the sport, with Asia taking a central role in shaping future reforms and governance.

Dr Nakama has joined the Board, expanding Asia’s influence. With his addition, Asia now holds four seats. Asian Boxing President Pichai Chunhavajira and Mr Vargas of the Philippines continue their service, ensuring continuity and experienced leadership within the organisation.

The new Board will guide World Boxing through ongoing reforms focused on transparency, athlete first governance, and the unification of the sport under modern and accountable structures.
