Asian Boxing and the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation have signed a strategic Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening the long-term development, governance, and international integration of boxing in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The agreement was signed in Tashkent by Pichai Chunhavajira, President of Asian Boxing, and Saken Polatov, Vice President of Asian Boxing and First Vice-Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation.
The agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for cooperation focused on enhancing sports governance standards, modernizing athlete development systems, strengthening coach and specialist education, expanding international cooperation, and developing boxing infrastructure nationwide. It also provides for the alignment of national regulations and operational standards with Asian Boxing requirements, reinforcing principles of transparency, accountability, and effective governance.
Key areas of cooperation include the selection of model boxing-focused sports schools across all regions of Uzbekistan, implementation of modernized training programs from grassroots to elite level, engagement of international coaches and experts, participation of athletes and officials in international training camps and competitions, and the attraction of international grants and investment to support sustainable growth.
As part of the cooperation framework, Uzbekistan will host major international boxing activity, including the Asian Boxing U15 and U17 Boxing Championships, scheduled to take place in Tashkent in May 2026, further positioning the country as a key regional center for youth boxing development and international competition.
Under the agreement, Asian Boxing will provide methodological, advisory, and expert support, while the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation will ensure the effective implementation of joint programs and initiatives at the national level in accordance with international standards.
The agreement enters into force upon signing and will remain valid until 31 December 2028, reflecting a shared commitment to long-term development and excellence in boxing across Asia.
