Asian Boxing Opens Nominations for Athletes’ Committee Elections

Published on: June 22, 2026

Asian Boxing has officially opened the nomination process for the election of its Athletes’ Committee, marking another important governance milestone as the organization continues to strengthen athlete representation and ensure that boxers have a direct voice in the future of Olympic-style boxing across Asia.

The Athletes’ Committee serves as the voice of athletes within Asian Boxing, representing the interests, perspectives and experiences of boxers while providing advice, guidance and recommendations on matters affecting the sport.

As outlined in the Asian Boxing Statutes, the Committee will comprise six elected members, including three male athletes and three female athletes. The elected members will serve a four-year term and will represent athletes from across the continent while contributing to the continued development of boxing in Asia.

The election framework and the appointment of the Election Committee were approved by the Asian Boxing Board of Directors during its meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in May 2026. The Election Committee comprises Asian Boxing Board Member Darkhan Kyzaibayev, Asian Boxing Sports Integrity Officer Chaiwat Chotima and Asian Boxing Secretary General Ali Salameh.

Member Federations may nominate eligible athletes who have competed at the highest levels of international boxing, including the Asian Boxing Elite Championships, World Championships, Asian Games or Olympic Games, or athletes selected to compete at the Asian Boxing Elite Championships in 2026.

To be considered, candidates must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Asian Boxing Athletes’ Committee Election Procedure and submit all required nomination documents through their respective Member Federations.

The deadline for submission of nominations is 1 August 2026.

Following the validation process, the list of approved candidates will be published by Asian Boxing. The Election Committee will supervise the election process, determine voting locations and approved campaign areas, oversee vote counting and verification, and resolve any procedural matters arising during the election.

Voting will take place during the Asian Games, with every accredited athlete participating in the Games entitled to cast one vote. The six candidates receiving the highest number of valid votes, comprising three male athletes and three female athletes, will be elected to the Athletes’ Committee, including the Chair and Vice Chair.

The establishment of the Athletes’ Committee reflects Asian Boxing’s commitment to good governance, athlete engagement and ensuring that the voices of boxers remain at the heart of decision-making throughout the continent.

Further information, including nomination forms and eligibility requirements, is available through Asian Boxing.
