Asian Boxing Opens Bidding Process for 2027 Continental Championships as Continent Prepares for Crucial Olympic Qualification Cycle

Published on: October 27, 2026

Asian Boxing has officially launched the bidding process for two of its major continental championships in 2027, inviting National Federations across Asia to take centre stage in the development of the sport by hosting the Asian U19 & U23 Boxing Championships and the Asian U15 & U17 Boxing Championships.

The announcement marks an important step in Asian Boxing’s preparations for a significant year in the international boxing calendar, as the continent enters a crucial period of Olympic qualification and continues its transition into a new era of Olympic-style boxing under World Boxing.

Asian Boxing General Manager Bassam Ghanem formally communicated the opening of the bidding process through an official letter addressed to the Presidents and Secretaries General of all National Federations, encouraging interested countries to submit their expressions of interest.

The bidding process is now open for the Asian U19 & U23 Boxing Championships 2027 and the Asian U15 & U17 Boxing Championships 2027, two major continental competitions that play an essential role in identifying, developing and preparing the next generation of Asian boxing talent.

Both championships represent important stages in Asian Boxing’s development pathway, providing young boxers with valuable international competition experience and opportunities to progress towards elite-level success.

Speaking about the importance of the bidding process, Asian Boxing General Manager Bassam Ghanem emphasised the opportunities these championships present for National Federations and the future of boxing across the continent.

“Hosting an Asian Boxing Championship is about much more than organising a competition. It is about creating opportunities for our young boxers, inspiring the next generation and building a lasting legacy for the sport in the host country. We want our National Federations to see these championships as an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, strengthen their national programmes and play an active role in shaping the future of boxing in Asia,” said Bassam Ghanem.

“2027 will be a particularly significant and demanding year for international boxing as we enter a crucial period of Olympic qualification. Hosting an Asian Boxing Championship during this important stage of the Olympic cycle carries even greater responsibility and significance. Asia has consistently demonstrated its strength on the world stage, and we must continue to nurture our continent’s talent, strengthen our development pathways and provide our young boxers with the opportunities they need to succeed.”

“As we move forward into a new era of Olympic-style boxing under World Boxing, our responsibility is not only to maintain Asia’s position among the leading continents in the sport, but to build an even stronger foundation for the generations that will represent us at future Olympic Games,” he added.

The U15 & U17 Championships serve as an important foundation for emerging talent, while the U19 & U23 Championships provide a competitive platform for boxers preparing to make the transition to senior international competition.

For prospective host nations, securing the rights to organise either championship represents an opportunity to demonstrate their organisational capabilities, strengthen national boxing programmes, enhance sporting infrastructure and showcase their countries on the continental stage.

Beyond the competition itself, Asian Boxing views these championships as an investment in the long-term growth of the sport, with the potential to inspire future generations, increase national participation and establish a sustainable sporting legacy.

The bidding initiative also reflects Asian Boxing’s commitment to strengthening cooperation among its National Federations and expanding opportunities for countries throughout the continent to participate directly in the organisation and development of major international competitions.

With the road towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games gathering momentum, the 2027 competition calendar represents an important period for Asian boxing. While the U15, U17, U19 & U23 Championships are primarily focused on youth development, they remain essential components of the broader pathway that prepares Asian boxers for future international and Olympic success.

National Federations interested in hosting either championship are encouraged to contact Asian Boxing through its official communication channels to obtain the relevant bidding documentation, hosting requirements and submission guidelines.

The official bidding procedures will outline the necessary supporting documentation, organisational obligations and deadlines that prospective hosts must fulfil as part of the selection process.

Asian Boxing has emphasised the importance of delivering championships that meet international organisational and technical standards while providing a professional, competitive and inspiring environment for participating boxers, coaches and officials.

As Asia continues to establish itself among the strongest regions in international boxing, the successful organisation of these championships will be instrumental in maintaining the continent’s competitive strength and developing the champions of tomorrow.

With 2027 set to become a defining year on the road to Los Angeles 2028, Asian Boxing looks forward to welcoming ambitious host nations ready to deliver outstanding championships, strengthen continental cooperation and contribute to the next chapter of Olympic-style boxing in Asia.
