Athletes First: The Olympic Dream and Beyond
As we look towards the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, we are reminded of the extraordinary responsibility we carry in shaping the future of our young athletes.
The Olympic Movement represents the highest aspirations of sport. It brings nations together, inspires generations and provides young people with an opportunity to achieve something greater than themselves. For our boxers, representing their country on the Olympic stage is the culmination of years of dedication, discipline and sacrifice.
At Asian Boxing, our commitment is clear, my commitment is clear: Athletes First, Integrity Always.
This is more than a statement of principle. It is the foundation of our leadership and the responsibility behind every decision we make.
My priority is to create opportunities, remove barriers and establish credible pathways that allow young boxers across Asia to pursue their Olympic dreams. Regardless of their background or circumstances, every talented athlete deserves the opportunity to develop, compete fairly and reach their full potential.
But opportunity must always be accompanied by responsibility.
We must protect our athletes, safeguard their wellbeing, uphold integrity in competition and ensure their voices are represented in the decisions that shape their sporting futures.
Through our cooperation with the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia, World Boxing and our National Federations, we must continue strengthening the foundations that allow Asian boxing to flourish within the Olympic Movement.
Yet our commitment cannot end when the final bell rings.
Behind every athlete stands a family that has sacrificed time, resources and personal ambitions to support a dream. We must recognise that the true value of sporting success extends beyond medals and international recognition.
Our athletes deserve opportunities to pursue education, develop professional skills, achieve financial independence and build secure futures for themselves and their families.
The Olympic dream should open doors, not close them when an athlete’s competitive career ends.
Dakar 2026 represents more than another milestone in international sport. As the first Olympic sporting event hosted on African soil, it demonstrates the Olympic Movement’s commitment to reaching new communities and inspiring future generations.
For Asian Boxing, it reinforces our determination to ensure that young boxers are given every opportunity to succeed, both inside and outside the ring.
My ambition is not simply to produce Olympic champions. It is to develop individuals who carry the values of excellence, respect, integrity and responsibility throughout their lives, becoming leaders within their families, communities and nations.
Athletes First means creating the pathway, protecting the journey and supporting the future.
Because our greatest achievement will not be measured only by the medals our athletes win, but by the opportunities we create and the lives we help transform.
That is our commitment to the next generation. That is the future of Asian Boxing.
