Day 7 of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament 2025 saw athletes from across Asia secure their places in the finals, with strong performances across both men’s and women’s divisions during a packed day of semifinal action at Bangkok’s Grand Venue.
In the women’s featherweight (57kg) division, Wu Shih-Yi of Chinese Taipei narrowly edged India’s Priya in a 3:2 split decision, securing her place in the final. She will be joined by Punrawee Ruenros of Thailand, who dominated Uktamova Nigina of Uzbekistan with a commanding 5:0 victory.
Kazakhstan’s Nadezhda Ryabets advanced to the women’s middleweight (75kg) final after stopping Japan’s Naoko Kasahara in the second round. She will meet Zokirova Aziza of Uzbekistan, who also secured an RSC victory over Karine Airapetian of Ukraine.
In the men’s flyweight (50kg) class, Uzbekistan’s Shodiyorjon Melikuziev overcame Thailand’s Thitiwat Phlongaura in a tight 3:2 contest. Huthaifa Eshish of Jordan also booked his spot in the final with a 4:1 win against Nurzat Ongarov of Kazakhstan.
Uzbekistan continued its strong showing in the men’s light middleweight (70kg) category as Mukhammmadazizbek Ismoilov defeated Kan Chia-Wei of Chinese Taipei. Torekhan Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan delivered a flawless 5:0 performance against Ikhtiiar Nishonov of Kyrgyzstan to complete the final lineup.
In the men’s middleweight (75kg) division, Uzbekistan’s Abdurakhimov Javokhir convincingly beat Jordan’s Zaid Alden Iashash, while Deepak of India overcame Peerapat Yeasungnoen of Thailand with an equally dominant scoreline.
Earlier in the day, the women’s light middleweight (70kg) semifinals saw Zhao Chunyuan of China eliminate Toirova Oysha of Uzbekistan with a 5:0 decision, and Natalya Bogdanova of Kazakhstan defeat India’s Saneh via RSC in the second round.
In the women’s heavyweight (80+kg) class, Kiran of India outboxed Polina Chernenko of Ukraine, and Kazakhstan’s Yeldana Talipova secured a stoppage win against Islam Nawaf A. Husaili of Jordan.
Jordan’s Mohammad Abu Jajeh advanced in the men’s lightweight (60kg) division after a hard-fought 3:2 victory over Daniyarov Madiyar of Uzbekistan. He will be joined in the final by Sota Nakayama of Japan, who stopped Thanaphansakon Kalaseera (THD) in the second round.
In the men’s light heavyweight (80kg) division, Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan of China dominated Djalolov Samandar of Uzbekistan, while Dias Molzhigitov of Kazakhstan outclassed Bekzhigit Uulu Omurbek of Kyrgyzstan.
The high-stakes action in the men’s cruiserweight (85kg) bracket saw Tokhirov Nusratbek of Uzbekistan defeated Kazakhstan’s Bekzat Tangatar in a 4:1 decision, and Thailand’s Jakkapong Yomkhot edged out Adylbek Uulu Erkin of Kyrgyzstan by the same margin.
With the finalists now confirmed, anticipation builds toward the gold medal bouts as Asia’s best prepare to take center stage in Bangkok.
