Momentum Builds for Asian Boxers with Back-to-Back Wins at Thailand Open

Asian nations continued to assert their strength at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament 2025, with a commanding display across both afternoon and evening sessions on Day 3 at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.
The afternoon session (Session 5) saw Uzbekistan’s Daniyarov Madiyar earn a unanimous victory over the Philippines’ John Paul Napoles in the men’s light (60kg) division, while compatriot Juraboev Elyorbek delivered a dominant 5:0 decision over Korea’s Haneul Jung in the heavy (90kg) class. Jordan’s Mohammad Abu Jajeh also impressed with a clean win against Thailand’s Aphichit Chaedi, and host nation boxer Thanaphansakon Kalaseera narrowly defeated Kazakhstan’s Orazbek Assylkulov in a split decision.
In the women’s welterweight (65kg), Thailand’s Thananya Somnuek secured a confident 5:0 win against Kazakhstan’s Nazerke Serik. Uzbekistan’s Khamidova Navbakhor and China’s Yang Liu also posted decisive victories to move into the next round.
The evening session (Session 6) maintained the pace for Asia’s top talents. Uzbekistan’s Ismoilov Mukhammadazizbek defeated Japan’s Shoi Someya with a unanimous 5:0 score, while Kyrgyzstan’s Nishonov Ikhtiiar overcame Singapore’s Velvan Tan. Kazakhstan’s Torekhan Sabyrkhan and India’s Anshul Gill recorded wins in the light middle and super heavy divisions, respectively.
In the women’s light (60kg) category, Viktoriya Grafeyeva of Kazakhstan, Riza Pasuit of the Philippines, and Yang Chengyu of China all recorded standout performances. India’s Sanju also moved forward with a dominant 5:0 decision over Indonesia’s Reka Mariana Kasibulan.
With medals on the horizon, Asian boxers are proving to be frontrunners at this year’s Thailand Open, delivering consistent, technical, and spirited performances against international opposition.
