Asian athletes continued to shine on Day 2 of the World Boxing Challenge in Ústí nad Labem, delivering a series of commanding victories that reaffirmed the continent’s growing strength in the international boxing arena.
Japan, Mongolia, and Pakistan led the charge with key wins across both the men’s and women’s divisions.
Japan’s Hiraku Shinohara opened the day with a dominant performance in the Women’s 48kg category, securing a clean 5:0 win over Finland’s Laura Myllymäki. Her compatriots Yuna Nishinaka (W51kg), Ayaka Taguchi (W60kg), Rui Yamaguchi (55kg), Shunsuke Kitamoto (60kg), Shion Nishiyama (65kg), and Daigo Sunaga (75kg) all followed with impressive victories, with five of them winning by unanimous decision.
Mongolia’s Michidmaa Erdenedalai delivered a close but vital 3:2 win against Slovakia’s Barbara Lovasova in the Women’s 57kg bout. She was joined by compatriot Bat-Ulzii Erdenetsogt, who earned a well-deserved 4:1 win over Finland’s Umar Ismail in the Men’s 65kg category. Bilguunsaikhan Kharkhuu also impressed with a hard-fought 3:2 victory against Germany’s Ali El Sari.
In the women’s division, Pakistan’s Laura Djida Akram brought home a clear 5:0 win over Palestine’s Noura Salman in the Women’s 57kg bout, showcasing Pakistan’s rising talent on the continental stage.
The collective performance underscores Asia’s depth, skill, and readiness to compete at the highest levels of the sport. With momentum building and confidence high, Asian teams are expected to play a defining role as the tournament advances into the later rounds.
