U22 Boxers Shine in Evening Session of Day 2 in Bangkok

The second day of competition at the Asian Boxing U19 and U22 Boxing Championships Bangkok 2025 concluded with a thrilling evening session featuring high-level contests from the U22 men’s division. Athletes from across Asia competed in 16 preliminary bouts across the light, welter, light middle, and middleweight categories, delivering action-packed performances at Indoor Stadium Huamark.
In the lightweight (60kg) division, India’s Harsh, Iran’s Mohammadamin Karimi, and Uzbekistan’s Shohruh Abdumalikov all secured dominant victories on points. Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Kaldybayev stopped Korea’s Seung Hun Yoo with a referee stoppage in the third round, while Azizbek Khodzhaev (Kyrgyzstan) and Jun-You Lin (Chinese Taipei) also advanced with tightly contested wins.
The welterweight (65kg) category saw strong performances from Esmail Alqassimi (Saudi Arabia), Sayat Ilyasov (Uzbekistan), and Yusaku Matsuhisa (Japan), all earning unanimous 5:0 decisions. The Philippines’ Mark Ashley Fajardo and Kazakhstan’s Ilya Kalinin also moved forward, adding to the strength of their national teams.
In the light middleweight (70kg) bracket, Brandon Jay Soriano (Philippines) outboxed India’s Kartik Dalal, while Moeto Kawamura (Japan) and Mukhammmad Azizbek Ismoilov (Uzbekistan) delivered clean 5:0 victories in their respective bouts.
The evening closed with two fierce contests in the middleweight (75kg) division, where Thananchai Phoemsap of Thailand defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Atai Asanbekov in a 4:1 decision, and Jun-Zhang Lin of Chinese Taipei overwhelmed his opponent from Sri Lanka to claim a unanimous win.
