Asian boxers continued to demonstrate their strength and resilience at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, with several athletes securing victories to advance into the semi-finals and finals.
In the women’s 48kg category, Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay (KAZ) delivered a dominant performance, defeating Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota with a unanimous 5:0 decision to reach the semi-finals. Uzbekistan’s Sabina Bobokulova (UZB) impressed with her own 5:0 win over Italy’s Giovanna Marchese, while India’s Minakshi (IND) defeated England’s Alice Pumphrey 5:0 on home soil to join them in the next round. Mongolia’s Altantsetseg Lutsaikhan (MGL) also secured her place in the finals with a commanding 5:0 victory against Japan’s Hikaru Shinohara.
In the men’s 50kg division, Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar Tashkenbay (KAZ) overcame India’s Jadumani Mandengbam with a decisive 4:0 win, while Japan’s Soushi Makino (JPN) edged out Uzbekistan’s Shodiyorjon Melikuziev in a close 3:2 contest. Mongolia’s Battulga Aldarkhishig (MGL) continued Asia’s winning streak, defeating Spain’s Martin Molina to reach the semi-finals.
In the men’s 85kg category, Uzbekistan’s Akmaljon Isroilov (UZB) impressed with a flawless 5:0 victory over Spain’s Adrian Fresneda, booking his spot in the semi-finals and keeping Uzbekistan’s medal hopes alive.
These results highlight Asia’s dominance across multiple weight classes, showcasing both the depth of talent and the determination of the continent’s boxers on the global stage.
