Asia’s Strong Evening Session at the World Boxing Championships

Asian boxers continued to impress in the evening session of the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, with standout performances across the women’s and men’s divisions further strengthening the continent’s medal tally.

In the women’s events, India’s Jaismine (57kg) produced a commanding 5:0 win over Venezuela’s Omailyn Alcala to move into the semi-finals. Kazakhstan’s Aida Abikeyeva (65kg) outclassed Ireland’s Grainne Walsh, while Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova edged past Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien-Chin in a thrilling contest. India’s Nupur (81+kg) also advanced with a decisive 5:0 victory over Turkey’s Seyma Duztas.

The men’s bouts saw Uzbekistan dominate the session. Abdumalik Khalokov (60kg) delivered a statement win over Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto, securing a 5:0 victory by stoppage in the second round. His compatriot Fazliddin Erkinboev (75kg) defeated Azerbaijan’s Saidjamshid Jafarov in a 4:1 decision, while Turabek Khabibullaev (90kg) overcame Spain’s Emmanuel Reyes with a 4:1 win. In the super heavyweight category, Jakhongir Zokirov (UZB) outclassed China’s Danabieke Bayikewuzi with a 5:0 decision.

The evening concluded with a stunning victory for Kazakhstan’s Aibek Oralbay (+90kg), who defeated Cuban legend Julio Cesar La Cruz in one of the most dramatic battles of the tournament so far.

These victories capped a dominant evening for Asia, setting the stage for the continent’s boxers to challenge strongly for gold in the coming finals.
