Friendly Boxing Match in Nishio Held as Official Test Event for Aichi Nagoya Asian Games 2026

The Friendly Boxing Match in Nishio was successfully staged on 20–21 December 2025 in Nishio City, Aichi, serving as an official test event in preparation for the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games 2026.

Organized by the Japan Boxing Federation with the support of the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee, the competition was held at Nishio Gymnasium, the confirmed boxing venue for the Asian Games next year. The event provided a full test of competition operations, technical delivery, officiating procedures, and venue readiness under Games conditions.

Elite men’s and women’s boxers from Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines competed across five weight categories per gender, with all bouts conducted in accordance with World Boxing Competition Rules. The test event format allowed athletes, officials, and organizers to assess performance standards while simulating Asian Games level competition.

The event was attended by Asian Boxing Secretary General Ali Salameh, highlighting the importance of the test event within the Asian Boxing calendar and the broader preparations for the continental multi-sport Games.
Technical operations were overseen by Technical Director Karina Picson of the Philippines, ensuring that all competition protocols, bout management, and officiating standards were delivered in line with international requirements.

Award presentations were conducted by Chaiwat Chotima and Dr. Tatsuya Nakama, marking the conclusion of a successful test event and reinforcing the collaborative effort between Asian Boxing, the host federation, and local organizers.

The successful delivery of the Friendly Boxing Match in Nishio represented a key milestone in the final preparations for boxing at the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games 2026, confirming venue readiness and operational standards ahead of the Games.
