The boxing competition at the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025 continued to deliver intensity and high level competition during Session 4 on Saturday afternoon, December 13, with closely contested decisions, dominant performances, and decisive early stoppages across women’s and men’s divisions.

The session opened in the women’s light welterweight 63kg division where Indonesia’s Hasanah Huswatun edged a narrow 3:2 split decision victory over the Philippines’ Nesthy Petecio. In a bout marked by technical exchanges and constant pressure from both corners, the judges were divided, but Huswatun did enough to secure the win on points and advance further in the competition.

In the men’s bantamweight 54kg category, the Philippines claimed a hard fought victory as Jara Flint defeated Indonesia’s Daud Flanuari Yerikho by a 3:2 split decision. The bout remained tight throughout, with momentum swinging between the two boxers before the judges awarded the contest to Flint following a disciplined final round performance.

Malaysia’s Wahidi Mohamad Rizal produced a commanding display in the same weight class, defeating Timor Leste’s Jacob Goncalves Alexandro by unanimous decision. Winning all five scorecards, Rizal controlled the bout from the opening bell with clean combinations and effective ring movement to secure a 5:0 victory.

Thailand’s Saengphet Thanarat then gave the home crowd something to celebrate, delivering a dominant performance against Vietnam’s Tran Quang Loc in the men’s bantamweight 54kg division. Saengphet swept the judges’ scorecards with a clear 5:0 unanimous decision, dictating the pace and distance throughout the contest.

Action continued in the men’s welterweight 69kg category where Timor Leste’s Meliano da Costa Freitas Alexandre recorded the first stoppage of the session, forcing referee intervention in the opening round against Laos’ Chalounseng Somphan. The bout was stopped at 2 minutes and 24 seconds of round one, with Alexandre overwhelming his opponent to claim a convincing RSC victory.

The session concluded with another emphatic finish as Singapore’s Tan Jun Jie Velvan scored a first round knockout against Myanmar’s Thiha Zaw. The contest ended at 1 minute and 29 seconds of round one, marking the fastest result of the afternoon and underlining Velvan’s explosive power in the welterweight division.

With competition intensifying and medals firmly in sight, Session 4 further highlighted the depth of talent across Southeast Asia as boxers continue their pursuit of podium finishes at the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025.
