Quarter-Finals Intensify as Top Seeds Advance in Afternoon Session at Asian Boxing Elite Championships

The afternoon session of the quarter-finals at the Asian Boxing Elite Boxing Championships delivered a high level of competition, with top contenders asserting dominance and several closely contested bouts shaping the path to the semi-finals.

The session, held at the ASA Arena on Day 5 of competition, featured decisive performances across the women’s 51 kg and 60 kg divisions, as well as the men’s 70 kg category.

In the women’s 51 kg division, India’s Nikhat Zareen made a strong statement, securing a first-round RSC victory over the Philippines’ Xian Baguhin. China’s Wu Yu followed with a composed 4:1 split decision win against Uzbekistan’s Gulsevar Ganieva. Meanwhile, DPR Korea’s Kum Buol An delivered a dominant performance, defeating Mongolia’s Mungunsaran Balsan by unanimous decision.

Chinese Taipei’s Guo Yi-Xuan edged a tight 3:2 split decision over Korea’s Chorong Bak, underlining the competitive depth of the division.

The women’s 60 kg quarter-finals saw standout performances from several contenders. Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu-Ting, one of the tournament’s top seeds, advanced convincingly with a unanimous decision victory over Japan’s Ayaka Taguchi. DPR Korea’s Un Gyong Won secured a 4:1 win against Korea’s Yeonji Oh, while Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor impressed on home soil with a unanimous victory over Uzbekistan’s Mushtariybonu Ibrokhimjonova.
India’s Priya continued her strong run, earning a 4:1 decision against China’s Yang Chengyu to secure her place in the semi-finals.

In the men’s 70 kg division, Kazakhstan’s Torekhan Sabyrkhan showcased control and precision in a 4:1 win over Tajikistan’s Shamsher Saidov. China’s Wang Peicheng delivered one of the most dominant performances of the session, claiming a unanimous 5:0 victory against Mongolia’s Byamba-Erdene Otgonbaatar.

Jordan’s Zeyad Eashash advanced with a solid 4:1 win over India’s Deepak, maintaining his momentum in the tournament. Japan’s Sewonrets Quincy Mensah Okazawa closed the session with a commanding unanimous decision victory over Kyrgyzstan’s Eldar Turdubaev.

With the quarter-finals now well underway, the intensity continues to rise as Asia’s top boxers move closer to medal contention.

The Asian Boxing Elite Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar continue through to the finals on April 9 and 10, bringing together the continent’s best in a landmark edition of the competition.
