Top Seeds Shine in Evening Quarter-Finals on Day 5 in Ulaanbaatar

The evening session of the quarter-finals at the Asian Boxing Elite Boxing Championships continued to deliver elite-level action, with top seeds and emerging contenders securing their places in the semi-finals across the women’s 54 kg and men’s 55 kg divisions.

In the women’s 54 kg category, Chinese Taipei’s top seed Huang Hsiao-Wen produced a dominant performance, defeating Thailand’s Natnicha Chongprongklang by unanimous decision. China’s Zhao Xuan advanced with a clean 5:0 victory over Bhutan’s Kinga Wangmo, while India’s Preeti delivered a commanding win against Mongolia’s Enkhjargal Munguntsetseg, also by unanimous decision.

One of the closest contests of the session was between two Olympians when we saw Korea’s Aeji Im edge Japan’s Tsukimi Namiki in a split decision, underlining the high level of competition at this stage of the tournament.

In the men’s 55 kg division, Kazakhstan’s top seed Makhmud Sabyrkhan was tested but ultimately prevailed in a narrow 3:2 victory over Uzbekistan’s Shakhzod Muzafarov in one of the most competitive bouts of the evening.

Home support was rewarded as Mongolia’s Bilguunsaikhan Kharkhul delivered a strong performance to secure a unanimous win over Turkmenistan’s Meylis Shadurdyyev. Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi advanced with a confident 4:1 victory against Tajikistan’s Anushervon Fazylov.

China’s Liu Chuang, the second seed, closed the session with an emphatic unanimous decision win over Chinese Taipei’s Peng Chia-Feng, confirming his status as a serious contender moving into the semi-finals.

As the quarter-finals progress, the competition continues to intensify, with Asia’s top boxers now just one victory away from securing a place in the finals.
