The Asian Boxing Board of Directors meeting concluded in Tashkent on May 16, 2026, with several important decisions approved as the federation continues to strengthen its position as a leading continental confederation under World Boxing.
Among the major outcomes of the meeting was the Board’s approval of the development of advanced medical guidelines designed to further protect athletes across all Asian Boxing competitions and activities. The initiative will be supervised by Dr. Tatsuya Nakama together with the Asian Boxing Medical Commission, reinforcing the federation’s commitment to athlete safety, medical standards, and integrity in Olympic-style boxing.
The Board also emphasized Asian Boxing’s continued focus on building a financially independent and sustainable organization through long term commercial growth, sponsorship expansion, digital development, and new revenue opportunities. Leadership highlighted the importance of creating a modern and stable structure capable of supporting athletes and National Federations across Asia for years to come.
Another key moment during the meeting was the approval of the partnership between Asian Boxing and the Jordan Boxing Federation for the organization of the Asian Boxing Club Championships and Boxing Cup in Jordan. The initiative will create new opportunities for clubs, institutional teams, and developing athletes across the continent while expanding participation pathways within the sport.
On behalf of the Jordan Boxing Federation, Vice President Ms. Arifa Bseiso officially accepted the Memorandum of Understanding letter during the meeting, with Executive Director Mahmoud Alshwarbeh present to witness the official acceptance, marking the beginning of a new partnership between Asian Boxing and Jordan for the future development of the Club Championships project.
The Board also approved the election process for the Asian Boxing Athletes Commission during the upcoming Asian Games, reinforcing the federation’s commitment to athlete representation and ensuring that athletes continue to play an active role in the future direction and development of Asian Boxing.
In his closing remarks, Asian Boxing President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to governance, athlete welfare, development, and unity as Asian Boxing continues moving forward into a new era of growth and opportunity.
