Asian Boxing U17 Championships Open in Tashkent with Action-Packed First Day

The Asian Boxing U17 Boxing Championships officially began today in Tashkent, as the first day of competition delivered a full schedule of preliminary bouts across both girls’ and boys’ divisions.
Across two sessions, athletes from 21 National Federations stepped into the ring, setting the tone for the championships with decisive performances and early statements across multiple weight categories.

The opening session featured the U17 girls’ divisions, where boxers from Kazakhstan, India, Chinese Taipei, and Mongolia advanced with strong performances, many securing unanimous decisions. Several contests were stopped early, reflecting clear dominance and sharp execution from athletes arriving in peak condition.

In the evening session, competition intensified in the bantamweight and featherweight categories. Japan, China, and Vietnam were among the federations progressing, while India’s Navya delivered one of the standout performances of the day with a first-round stoppage.

The U17 boys’ division saw a mix of commanding wins and closely contested bouts. Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan all recorded key victories, while several matches in the pinweight and light flyweight divisions were decided by narrow margins, highlighting the depth and competitiveness of the field.

Host nation Uzbekistan earned strong support from the home crowd, with Kamronbek Bahodirov advancing to the next round in front of an energized audience.

With the first day of competition complete, the championships are now fully underway in Tashkent, as the next generation of Olympic-style boxers begin their campaign.
