Published on: May 4, 2026

Day 2 of the Asian Boxing U15 and U17 Boxing Championships delivered a full day of action in Tashkent, as the U15 competition officially got underway and the U17 divisions continued through the preliminary rounds.

Across morning and afternoon sessions, the ring saw a high volume of bouts with athletes from across Asia stepping in with intent, producing a mix of dominant performances, early stoppages, and tightly contested decisions.

The day opened with the first bouts of the U15 competition, introducing a new wave of young talent to the championships. Boxers from Kazakhstan, India, Chinese Taipei, and Uzbekistan were among those advancing in the girls’ divisions, with several contests stopped early, reflecting clear technical gaps and confident execution at this level.

In the U15 boys’ categories, early rounds already showed competitive depth, with close decisions alongside controlled performances, as athletes began their progression through the draw.

Attention then shifted to the U17 division in the afternoon session, where the pace and physicality stepped up across the flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, and lightweight categories.

Japan, Uzbekistan, India, and Mongolia were among the standout performers, securing strong wins across multiple weight classes. Host nation Uzbekistan continued to build momentum on home soil, with Rakhmonali Samadov and Asliddin Usubaliev advancing in front of an engaged local crowd.

Several bouts were stopped by the referee, particularly in the flyweight and featherweight divisions, while others went the distance, producing narrow scorecards that reflected the growing competitiveness as the rounds progress.

With the introduction of the U15 competition and the continued progression of U17 bouts, Day 2 expanded both the scale and intensity of the championships, as athletes move closer to the later stages.

Competition continues tomorrow in Tashkent with further preliminary bouts.
