Indonesia’s young women’s boxing team has delivered one of the standout stories of the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships Jakarta 2026, with Anggie Intania Chalik and Dira Artika advancing to the U19 women’s finals.

Anggie Intania Chalik will contest the U19 women’s 48kg final, while Dira Artika will compete for the 57kg title. By reaching the championship bouts, both athletes have already secured at least silver medals and now have the opportunity to turn them into gold in front of an Indonesian crowd.

The challenge ahead will be significant. Both Indonesian boxers will face opponents from India, one of Asia’s traditional boxing powerhouses. Alongside India, nations such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Japan consistently produce some of the continent’s strongest women’s boxing programmes, making a place in an Asian Championship final a major achievement for any young athlete.

For Indonesia, having two women reach the finals on home soil is a moment of immense pride. It reflects not only the confidence that can come from competing in front of a passionate home crowd, but also the steady progress made by the Indonesian Boxing Federation in developing its next generation of talent. Reaching two U19 women’s finals at a continental championship is a significant milestone and underlines the growth of Olympic-style boxing in the country.

Regardless of the colour of the medals awarded, Anggie Intania Chalik and Dira Artika have already produced performances that will be remembered as an important chapter in Indonesian boxing. Their success has inspired local supporters throughout the championships and demonstrated that Indonesia’s young athletes are capable of competing with the very best in Asia.

As they step into the ring for gold, the two finalists carry not only their own ambitions, but also the hopes of a nation eager to celebrate another landmark moment for Indonesian boxing.
