Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bahrain and Palestine claim victories in Session 2 at Aichi-Nagoya 2026

The opening day of boxing at the 20th Asian Games continued at Nishio Gymnasium on Monday evening, with four more Men’s 70kg preliminary bouts completing Session 2.

The Philippines’ Norlan Petecio opened the evening session with a unanimous points victory over Cambodia’s Vy Sophors. Petecio secured the decision 5-0, with four judges scoring the contest 30-27 and the fifth returning a 29-28 scorecard.

Sri Lanka’s Pradana Mudiyanselage Lahiru Lakmal Chandrabandara followed with a 4-1 split points victory over Yemen’s Mustafa Saeed. Four judges scored the bout 29-28 for Chandrabandara, while the fifth gave Saeed the contest 29-28.

Bahrain then celebrated victory as Aly Abdalla defeated Turkmenistan’s Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov by a 4-1 points decision. Four of the five judges awarded the bout to Abdalla, sending the Bahraini boxer through to the next stage of the competition.

Palestine’s Mohammed Issa closed Session 2 with another 4-1 points victory, overcoming Chinese Taipei’s Kan Chia-wei. Four judges scored the contest in Issa’s favour, three of them returning 30-27 scorecards.

The four contests concluded the second session of Men’s 70kg Round of 32 action at Nishio Gymnasium, with the opening day of the Asian Games boxing competition now underway in Nagoya.
