Asian Games Champions Crowned as Finals Begin in Aichi-Nagoya

The boxing finals at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games got underway with six champions crowned across the opening contests of Session 19.

China’s Wu Yu claimed the first boxing gold medal of the day in the Women’s 51 kg, defeating Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam by unanimous decision, 5-0.

In the Women’s 60 kg final, Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu-Ting added another major title to her decorated career with a 5-0 unanimous decision victory over China’s Yang Chengyu.

India celebrated gold in the Women’s 75 kg as Lovlina Borgohain produced a commanding performance against China’s Bao Ziyi, taking a unanimous 5-0 decision.

Japan then celebrated a home champion as Rui Yamaguchi defeated the Philippines’ Carlo Paalam in the Men’s 55 kg final. The victory delivered a memorable Asian Games gold medal for the host nation in front of the home crowd.

Kazakhstan’s Torekhan Sabyrkhan continued his rise on the international stage by claiming the Men’s 70 kg title. Sabyrkhan defeated Jordan’s Zeyad Eashash by unanimous decision, 5-0, to become Asian Games champion.

The Men’s 90 kg title went to Uzbekistan’s Turabek Khabibullaev, who defeated China’s Han Xuezhen 5-0 by unanimous decision to add Asian Games gold to his growing collection of international honours.

Five more champions will be crowned as the final session continues in Aichi-Nagoya.
