Asian Boxing Elects New Leadership at Historic Electoral Congress in Bangkok

Asian Boxing marked a major milestone in its continued development today as delegates from across the continent gathered for the organization’s first Electoral Congress, held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The landmark meeting, attended by national federations from all five Asian regions, resulted in the unanimous election of Pichai Chunhavajira as President of Asian Boxing. Chunhavajira, who ran unopposed, received full support from the voting members, reaffirming confidence in his leadership and vision for a transparent, athlete-centered future for boxing in Asia.
Two Vice Presidents were also elected to support the President and represent the diversity of the continent.
Dr. Fatima Jbara Ahmed Faqeyat of Palestine was elected as Vice President, becoming a symbol of growing gender representation in sports governance. She is joined by Mr. Saken Polatov of Uzbekistan, an experienced sports official and current Senior Vice President of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation.
The seats on the Board of Directors were among the most sought-after roles in the election, reflecting the strong engagement and diversity of Asian Boxing’s membership. The following individuals were elected:
In accordance with the Constitution, the Chairperson of the Audit & Finance Committee, Darkhan Kzaibayev of Kazakhstan, joins the Board of Directors as a voting member.
The Congress also confirmed Kit Long Lou of Macao as Chairperson of the Judicial Committee, contributing further to the strengthening of governance and integrity within the organization.
The meeting included with a few words from World Boxing President Boris van der Vorst congratulating the newly elected board. The Electoral Congress concluded with a unified commitment to transparency, accountability, and athlete-driven development, as Asian Boxing continues its work alongside World Boxing and national federations to build the future of Olympic-style boxing across the continent.
