The Asian Boxing U19 and U22 Boxing Championships officially opened today at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, with 367 boxers from 25 national federations gathering for one of Asia’s most important continental boxing events.
The Opening Ceremony welcomed all participating teams and featured remarks by Asian Boxing President Pichai Chunhavajira, who declared the competition officially open. The event was attended by World Boxing President Boris van der Vorst and many National Federation VIPs, who joined the celebrations in support of the fast-growing continental Confederation.
Today’s competition featured preliminary bouts exclusively in the U19 age bracket, with two sessions showcasing male and female boxers across weight categories.
In the morning session, early highlights included victories by Thao Thanh Luc (VIE), Maftuna Musurmonova (UZB), and Aiym Tankibayeva (KAZ) in the women’s divisions. John Steven Demaisip (PHI) earned a dominant RSC victory in the men’s lightweight (60kg) division, while Manal Tsendbaatar (MGL) also helped close out the afternoon with a strong performance in the men’s Bantam category.
The evening session saw commanding wins from Haosheng Zhang (CHN), Ashirbay Bibarys (KAZ), and Muhammadjon Yakupboev (UZB). Light heavyweights Taibekov Timur (KAZ) and Hyeon-Seung Jeong (KOR) both advanced with stoppage wins, as the men’s divisions delivered fast-paced and competitive action.
The championships continue daily through August 11, under the governance of World Boxing and the technical oversight of Asian Boxing and the Thailand Boxing Association.
