India also reached the podium in the women’s 48 kg division, where Gunjan Gunjan battled England’s Lily Bassett in the final. India’s Joyshree Devi Chirom similarly advanced to the women’s 54 kg championship bout before narrowly losing a competitive contest against the United States’ Guadalupe Ruiz.
Asian boxers continued to shine in the men’s finals, highlighted by Kazakhstan’s Doszhan Zhumakhan, who captured the men’s 60 kg title with a split decision victory over Thailand’s Siwa Chainarong in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
Kazakhstan added another gold medal in the men’s 75 kg category as Khamza Maksatuly defeated Uzbekistan’s Suhrob Rakhmatullaev by a 4:1 decision in an all Asian final.
Uzbekistan finished the finals with a commanding performance in the men’s 90 kg division where Asadbek Sultanboev dominated Kazakhstan’s Zhalgas Utebekov to win gold by unanimous decision.
