430+ Boxers from 26 National Federations Registered for Asian Boxing U19 and U23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta

More than 430 boxers from 26 National Federations have registered for the Asian Boxing U19 and U23 Boxing Championships following the close of entries for the continental event, which will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 3 to 16 July 2026.
Arrivals and Sport Entry Check will begin on 3 July, with competition spanning 12 days before the championships conclude on 16 July.
The championships will bring together some of Asia’s most exciting young talents alongside a number of athletes who have already established themselves on the international stage. The U23 division is expected to feature several boxers with elite-level experience, while the U19 category will showcase the next generation of athletes looking to make their mark in continental competition.
Among the standout names expected in Jakarta are Uzbekistan’s Bekhruz Kurbanov, Gulsevar Ganieva and Aziza Zokirova, the Philippines’ John Steven and Mark Ashley, Korea’s Yejm Oh, Iran’s Sam Estaki, and India’s Vishvanath Surest, who returns as an Asian Boxing Elite Championships gold medalist.
Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Mursal, with Japan bringing Asian Boxing Elite Championships medalists Daichi Iwai and Rio Matsumoto. Host nation Indonesia is expected to field a strong team including Mars De Volta, while Saudi Arabia’s Rayan Alansari and Bahrain’s Ali Bukhlaf are also among the star athletes set to compete.
The championships represent one of the most important stages in the development pathway for Asia’s young boxers, providing athletes with the opportunity to gain valuable international experience against the continent’s strongest competition.
Asian Boxing President Pichai Chunhavajira welcomed the strong participation numbers and highlighted the significance of the event for the future of the sport.
“The U19 and U23 categories are where many of our future champions begin to establish themselves on the continental stage. The level of participation we have seen for Jakarta reflects the strength and growth of boxing across Asia, and we look forward to witnessing outstanding performances from the next generation of athletes.”
With more than 430 boxers from 26 National Federations set to compete, the Asian Boxing U19 and U23 Boxing Championships promise to deliver 12 days of world-class Olympic-style boxing and provide an exciting glimpse into the future of the sport in Asia.
