Strong Performances Continue on Day 2 of the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships Jakarta 2026

The competition intensified on Monday afternoon as the U23 boxers returned to the ring for Session 2 of the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships Jakarta 2026, with another exciting day of Olympic-style boxing showcasing the depth of talent from across the continent.

Japan enjoyed an impressive session, recording victories through Hinata Yoshida (51kg), Korin Kokufu (54kg), Riko Yamada (57kg), Arinda Akimoto (65kg), and Daichi Iwai (50kg), underlining the nation’s strength across multiple weight categories.

The Republic of Korea also produced a strong performance, with Yejin Oh advancing in the women’s 57kg division before Donghwan Jang secured a convincing win in the men’s 65kg category.

Host nation Indonesia celebrated victories through Tanu in the women’s 51kg division and Fredrik Suhendri Ampage in the men’s 50kg category, much to the delight of the home crowd.

India’s Vishvanath Suresh progressed in the men’s 50kg division, while the Philippines’ Mark Ashley Fajardo delivered one of the standout performances of the session, earning a first-round Referee Stops Contest victory over Indonesia’s Laskar Putra. Uzbekistan’s Ilkhomjon Ergashev also advanced with a first-round abandonment victory against Qatar’s Faisal Mohamed Al-Naimi.

Elsewhere, Kazakhstan’s Assylkhan Kosherbay, Thailand’s Aphichit Chaemdi and Vietnam’s Thi Ngoc Tran Nguyen all booked their places in the next round with composed performances.

The Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships Jakarta 2026 continue with boxers from across Asia competing for continental titles and valuable international experience as they continue their development on the pathway towards the highest level of Olympic-style boxing.
