Women’s Competition Takes Centre Stage in U23 Session at the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships Jakarta 2026

The women’s competition returned to the spotlight on Wednesday afternoon as the U23 athletes contested the 45–48kg, 51kg and 54kg divisions during Session 6 of the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships Jakarta 2026. A full programme of 12 bouts showcased the quality and depth of women’s Olympic-style boxing across Asia.
The women’s 45–48kg division produced a series of closely fought contests. Kazakhstan’s Gulnaz Buribayeva edged India’s Nidhi by split decision, while Japan’s Yu Miyata, Mongolia’s Sodon-Od Binderiya and Indonesia’s Linda Sari Langi Maililin all progressed to the next round with impressive performances.
In the women’s 51kg category, India’s Tanu continued her strong campaign with a unanimous decision victory over Thailand’s Kewalin Norasing. Uzbekistan’s Gulsevar Ganieva advanced with a dominant performance against the Philippines’ Xian Baguhin, while Chinese Taipei’s Yi-Xuan Guo and Kazakhstan’s Anita Adisheva also booked their places in the next round.
The women’s 54kg division concluded the afternoon session with another series of high-quality bouts. Japan’s Korin Kokufu continued her impressive form with a unanimous decision victory over Vietnam’s Thao Thanh Luc, while Uzbekistan’s Uzukjamol Yunusova secured the session’s only Referee Stops Contest after defeating Kyrgyzstan’s Milana Shikhshabekova in the second round. Republic of Korea’s Hyeju Lee and India’s Nisha also advanced with convincing victories.
With the tournament continuing to gather momentum, the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships Jakarta 2026 remain a showcase for the continent’s finest emerging talent, as athletes compete for continental honours and continue their development on the pathway to the highest level of Olympic-style boxing.
