Men’s 60kg and 80kg action continues in Session 6 at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

The evening session at Nishio Gymnasium delivered another competitive round of boxing at the 20th Asian Games, with six Men’s 60kg preliminary contests followed by four Men’s 80kg Round of 16 bouts.

Korea’s Jang Donghwan opened the session with a 4-1 points victory over Chinese Taipei’s Lin Jun-you in the Men’s 60kg division.

Iran’s Daniyal Shahbakhsh followed with a unanimous 5-0 victory against Indonesia’s Asri Udin, while Thailand’s Sakda Ruamtham also secured a unanimous decision, defeating Bangladesh’s Md Salim Hossain 5-0.

Sri Lanka’s Gunасila Jayawardhana K Ravindu Jayanath Kumara came through one of the closest contests of the session, edging Turkmenistan’s Dovlet Muhanov by a 3-2 split decision.

Afghanistan’s Emal Hamdam recorded a unanimous 5-0 victory against Qatar’s Mohamed Alfagay before Tajikistan’s Akmal Ubaidov completed the Men’s 60kg action with a 5-0 decision over Laos’ Souliya Khammy.

Attention then turned to the Men’s 80kg Round of 16, where Korea’s Kim Minseong advanced after a closely contested 3-2 points victory over Kazakhstan’s Sabirzhan Akkalykov.

Indonesia’s Maikhel Roberrd Muskita produced a commanding performance against Japan’s Kai Toriyabe, earning a unanimous 5-0 decision to secure his place in the next round.

China’s Wang Xiaobao also advanced with a unanimous 5-0 victory against Thailand’s Weerapon Jongjoho.

Jordan’s Hussein Iashaish closed Session 6 with victory over Kyrgyzstan’s Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu. Three judges scored the contest in favour of Iashaish, while two returned even scores, giving the Jordanian a 3-0 points decision and passage into the next stage of the Men’s 80kg competition.
